Powered Sub/Sat System

Satellite from the front, enclosure is 4" PVC pipe, 12" long.
The driver is the TangBand 3" shielded paper cone full range driver.
The MCM part number is 54-605, although this particular pair came from GR Research.
Also the control pod is to the right of the satellite, the 2 input cables are hardwired to it,
and the 8 pin DIN cable that goes to the amp is hardwired as well. On the 4.1 series,
there is also a headphone switch (kills the amp) a CD input jack and a headphone jack.

Satellite from the rear, port is a 1/2 hole, cabinet volume is .065 cubic feet, tuning freq is 83Hz.
Cabinet volume is based on the internal length being 10.5 inches, and minus the mass of the magnet assembly.

Subwoofer enclosure, Klipsch Promedia 4 amp mounted on the back. Vent is 3" X 10",
cabinet volume is 1.8 cubic feet, tuning freq is 30Hz, F3 is around 38 or 40.
The woofer is a 10 inch from MCM, it has a Mica composite cone, 6.9mm X-max, was catalog # 55-2215.

From the rear, notice vent, and Klipsch amp with "BASH" moniker. The input cable is an 8 pin DIN
cable in the lower right hand corner of the plate. Power for the control pod and signal travel through this.

The whole system in place, notice subwoofer below desk tucked away.

The adapter I made to allow the use of standard RCA connector based components
with the system. It comes with standard stereo mini-plugs hardwired to the control pod, so rather than
butcher those off, I made an adapter to run my VCR into. I made it a stereo adapter then used an RCA
Y cable to take care of feeding the mono signal into both channels, that way I can still use a stereo source.
The green connector is the plug from the Klipsch, the red RCA (male) is from the VCR, the grey Y is
a single female RCA to dual male RCA's, the light grey cable is my adapter, dual female RCA's to 3.5mm inline jack.

I put this compensation network inline with the satellites to provide some baffle step compensation,
and a slight boost to the high end. I realize the 1.5mH coil is a bit big, almost triple the size it should be,
but I wanted to ensure a good presence near the crossover freq, and I figured I could always change it later.
I may play with adding one of Apexjr's tweets (the 2 for $2.39 ones) to add a little bit more sizzle, but all in all not bad.
